Viola labradorica/riviniana 'Purpurea' is a beautiful, low-growing, spreading perennial with evergreen purple-tinged foliage. Small, lavender-blue flowers bloom on short stems in spring.
Best grown in moist but well-drained soil and spreads by self-seeding and creeping stems. It is well suited to rock gardens, banks, and slopes as well as borders and resilient enough to grow as a ground cover strip under a hedge. Generally easy to care for and requires no pruning.
