1. The pictures in this listing are examples of the available plant at maturity and do not indicate anything in regard to size of plant at the point of sale.  You will receive an organically produced young plant grown in a 9cm pot for planting immediately or to grow on (pot removed, when possible, to reduce plastic waste)
2. Seasonal difference in plants: Please be aware if you are new to gardening, that the plants we supply are mostly herbaceous perennials and many go dormant in winter. You may receive what looks like an empty pot or piece of root. This will produce new growth in spring.
3. The date the Royal mail label is bought (tracking number added as sent against your orders) is the date your order is lined up for picking.  It is likely to be put into the post a couple of days later.

Matteuccia struthiopteris Shuttlecock has Common Names: Shuttlecock Fern, Ostrich Feather Fern
Young plant for planting out immediately or to grow on (plastic pot removed when possible, so they can be reused).
Plants supplied likely to reach only around 15cm in first year and 40cm in the second.Most supplied plants have been divided into single crowns which best show their clear strong characteristic form.
M. struthiopteris is a deciduous, stoloniferous fern forming colonies of erect rosettes up to 1.5m in height (NB after many years) , with lance-shaped, bright lime green, bipinnatifid sterile fronds.Can develop a trunk with age.
 
Easy to grow in most cool, moist shaded sites and useful for very wet sites.Its luminously bright green and bold vase shape makes this one of the treats of early summer; they can become a bit jaded in late summer when not in their favoured sheltered spot with moisture.Older plants can produce fertile fronds that remain decorative through winter.
