Plant Passport Registration Number: GB147173Anthriscus sylvestris - Cow Parsley Bare Root stock is a tall perennial with large umbels of dainty white flowers from spring into early summer. An excellent clumping usually biennial plant, these can be planted now for a display next spring. Should Queen Anne's Lace be a contender for the world's most beautiful flower? We think so - when banks of it adorn our country lanes, often foregrounding May blossom or a blue summer sky, surely nothing could be more lovely. Recreating a garden version of this image is possible and can be considered even in small spaces but do be warned there is a reason for it not being tried more often - cow parsley is a seeder of champion capabilities and if not controlled in this regard can take over a whole garden which is unlikely to be desired. So, be prepared to religiously de-seed your plants (will you remember!) or only put them where there is space to colonise. The plants go dormant after flowering and leave a gap so late flowerers can follow them or if planted in grass mow them. They emerge again in late autumn and the parsley green elegantly cut foliage provides welcome ferny rosettes through the winter. Please note that when we are out of pot grown stock we will send bare roots. For a less colonising umbelliferous alternative see Levisticum.
Foliage: Semi-evergreen
Height: 75cm - 1.5m in 2-5 years
Spread: 50-75cm
Please read our notes before placing the order:
1. The pictures in this listing are examples of the available plant at maturity and do not indicate anything in regard to size of plant at the point of sale. You will receive an organically produced young plant grown in a 9cm pot for planting immediately or to grow on (pot removed, when possible, to reduce plastic waste)
2. Seasonal difference in plants: Please be aware if you are new to gardening, that the plants we supply are mostly herbaceous perennials and many go dormant in winter. You may receive what looks like an empty pot or piece of root. This will produce new growth in spring.
3. The date the Royal mail label is bought (tracking number added as sent against your orders) is the date your order is lined up for picking. It is likely to be put into the post a couple of days later.
Thank you.
