Please read our notes before placing the order:
1. The pictures in this listing are examples of the available plant at maturity and do not indicate anything in regard to size of plant at the point of sale. You will receive an organically produced young plant grown in a 9cm pot for planting immediately or to grow on (pot removed, when possible, to reduce plastic waste)
2. Seasonal difference in plants: Please be aware if you are new to gardening, that the plants we supply are mostly herbaceous perennials and many go dormant in winter. You may receive what looks like an empty pot or piece of root. This will produce new growth in spring.
3. The date the Royal mail label is bought (tracking number added as sent against your orders) is the date your order is lined up for picking. It is likely to be put into the post a couple of days later.
Thank you.

Aconitum carmichaelii 'Arendsii' is an erect, tuberous perennial with dense spires of rich blue flowers in autumn, borne atop beautifully cut, shiny, dark green leaves starting into growth as early as February. Some bought in plants supplied in 2024 have turned out not to be true to name -apologies.

Thrives in full sun or shade, in moist, organically rich, well-drained soil. Height varies depending on growing conditions; very well fed and watered plants can get to near a stately 2 metres though typically around 120 cms. Cut down dead growth

in winter. We rate this as perhaps the best of the monkshoods, which we recommend to gardeners as an alternative to delphiniums as they are not touched by slugs and snails, do not require time consuming staking, can do well in shade if not dry and in the case of this species remain attractive throughout the summer.Do not plant where there is risk of being eaten as all parts are poisonous.

Height: 90-150cm in 2-5 years

Spread: 30-60cm
